Needless to say I’m honored and overwhelmed with the response.
Now, coming back to Frappuccino!
Back home, ‘Chai’ was our staple drink, ‘Coffee’ just once in a while. But, ever since I came here, that staple drink has been replaced by coffee. Why you ask? Well firstly, it is so much quicker to make! and secondly, the taste preference. And I guess like most of the coffee drinkers, I love Starbucks and in particular love their trademark ‘Frappuccino’.
So, I decided to make this Frozen yumminess today to beat the heat! Note that this is not the official Starbucks recipe. Just my version.
Prep time: 2 to 3 hours only to ready the coffee ice cubes
Make time: 10 mins
Serves: 2 – generously
- Coffee powder – 2n1/2 tsps (I regularly use Nescafe instant coffee….it worked pretty well for this too!)
- Low-fat or 1% milk – 1n1/2 cups
- Sugar – 3 tsps*
- a tray of coffee ice cubes**
- Whip cream – optional (I used only a small dollop for each cup/glass)***
1. Before a couple of hours of making this drink, I brewed about 1 tsp of coffee with a cup of water, poured it into an ice tray and slipped it into the freezer.
2. In a blender, take milk, coffee powder, sugar and half a tray of the coffee ice cubes. Use the ‘Frozen Drink’ option and blend until the ice cubes are nicely crushed.
3. Pour into tall glasses. Add the remaining coffee ice cubes and a dollop of whipped cream.
Serve with a straw. Sit back, relax and enjoy this deliciousness!
* Add additional tsp of sugar if needed. I liked it as it is, but hubby said it could take one extra tsp of sugar. So, add more based on your taste test.
** Why coffee ice cubes? – You could also use the regular ice cubes, but the drink will become too watery with less coffee taste! So, simply brew coffee using one cup of water and 1 tsp of coffee powder. Pour it into the ice tray and slide into the freezer.
*** Use more whipped cream and top it off with chocolate syrup if you are looking for something resembling the trademark ‘Frappuccino’.
